19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.
Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.
This marks his first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court after March of 2023.
Victory also signifies the Russian has secured 21 championships at 21 distinct competitions.
"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his previous six finals, including in that event earlier this year.
His retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on court had led some to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and play assertively, reinforced by an better serve.
The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.
Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a decider.
Moutet rescued 4 initial opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
